A simple senior move timeline
- 6–8 weeks out: Free estimate and floor plan review. Pick a move date with the community.
- 4–6 weeks out: Sort rooms and decide what goes where. Book donation and cleanout help.
- 1–2 weeks out: Packing day. Set aside medicines, papers and daily items.
- Move day: Load, deliver and set up the new home the same day.
- After the move: Clear out the old home and get it ready for sale.

Senior moving FAQs
How far ahead should we plan a senior move?
Start planning six to eight weeks before the move if you can. That leaves time to sort belongings, choose what goes to the new home and set up donations or cleanouts. Many senior living communities also set move-in dates and elevator times well ahead. Short-notice moves are still possible, and we have helped families move within days.
Can family members coordinate a senior move from out of town?
Yes. Many adult children live far from Philadelphia. We can do the estimate by video, share updates by phone or text and work with a local friend, social worker or community staff member. We keep the family informed at each step, from packing day to the final setup.
What happens to the items my parent cannot take?
Most downsizing moves leave furniture and household items behind. LiteMovers can deliver pieces to family members, take usable items to donation centers and remove the rest. We can also store items for a while so the family has time to decide. The goal is a clean, empty home that is ready to sell.
Do you work with senior living communities in Philadelphia?
Yes. We coordinate with independent living, assisted living and continuing care communities across the city and suburbs. We follow their move-in times, elevator rules and insurance requirements. We can also place furniture using the new apartment’s floor plan so the room is ready on day one.
