Professional packing, full or partial
Packing takes more time than most people expect. A three-bedroom home can take weeks of evenings. Our packers can do it in a day or two.
We use moving-grade cartons, packing paper and bubble wrap. Dishes are packed on edge. Lamps, mirrors and art get special cartons. Every box is labeled with its room so the unload goes fast.
- Full-home packing before move day
- Fragile-only packing for china, glass and art
- Kitchen-only packing, the room that takes longest
- Clear labels by room for a faster unload
See LiteMovers’ packing services page for more detail.

When Philadelphia customers use storage
Between closings
Your sale closes before your purchase. We store everything until you get the keys.
During renovations
Clear rooms for floors, paint or a new kitchen. See storage during renovation.
Staging a home for sale
Remove extra furniture so rooms look larger in listing photos.
Students and travelers
Summer breaks, study abroad or a work assignment out of town.
How our packers handle a room
- Clear a staging area. We set up a table or floor space covered with pads.
- Fragile items first. Glass, china and art are wrapped and boxed before anything else.
- Heavy items in small boxes. Books and files go in small cartons so they are easy to carry.
- Fill every gap. Paper fills empty space so nothing shifts in the truck.
- Label and log. Each box gets its room and contents on two sides.
Packing yourself? Start with rooms you use least, like guest rooms and basements. Leave the kitchen and bathrooms for the last two days.
Packing and storage FAQs
What is vault storage?
Vault storage uses large wooden crates, called vaults, that are loaded with your belongings and sealed. The vaults are stored inside a warehouse and moved with a forklift, so your items are not handled piece by piece. When you are ready, the vaults are loaded onto the truck and delivered to your new home.
Can LiteMovers pack only my fragile items?
Yes. Many customers pack their own clothes and books and have us pack the fragile items. That usually means dishes, glassware, lamps, framed art, mirrors and electronics. Our packers use proper cartons, paper and bubble wrap and label each box with its room and contents.
Is short-term storage available between closings in Philadelphia?
Yes. Gaps between a sale and a purchase are common, and storage keeps you from moving twice in a hurry. We pick up from your old home, store your things in our indoor warehouse and deliver when the new home is ready. Storage can last a few days or several months.
What items cannot go into storage?
Do not store food, plants, propane tanks, paint, gasoline, cleaning chemicals, ammunition or anything flammable. Keep cash, jewelry, medications and important papers with you. We will give you the full list during your estimate so there are no surprises on pickup day.
