Interstate moves with one team, start to finish

A long move has a lot of moving parts. The fewer people who handle your things, the fewer chances for trouble.

That is why LiteMovers runs dedicated long-distance moves on our own trucks. The crew that wraps your furniture in Philadelphia is the crew that unloads it at your new home. There are no transfers at a far-off terminal and no mystery subcontractors.

Our trucks have made the trip from Philadelphia to New England, the Carolinas, Florida and the West Coast. The photo on this page shows one of them on a run through Oregon.

LiteMovers is registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration under USDOT 2173383 and MC-888055. You can check both on the FMCSA Protect Your Move site.

How a long-distance move works

  1. Walkthrough estimate. We review every room by video or in person and list what is moving.
  2. Written plan. You get your pickup date, delivery window and the services you picked.
  3. Packing. Our packers can do the whole home or just fragile items like china and art.
  4. Loading. Furniture is padded and wrapped. The crew builds a tight, stable load.
  5. Delivery. The same crew unloads, places furniture and reassembles beds and tables.

Know your rights on an interstate move

Moving scams usually start with a low online quote and a company that will not give its USDOT number. Always ask for the number, look it up and get your estimate in writing.

  • Get the federal Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move booklet
  • Read your estimate, order for service and bill of lading before you sign
  • Choose your valuation coverage before move day
  • Make an inventory of high-value items
  • Keep a copy of every document in one folder

LiteMovers put together a plain-English guide to FMCSA moving rules. It explains estimates, valuation and claims.

Long-distance moving FAQs

What paperwork should an interstate mover give me?

Before an interstate move, federal rules require the mover to give you the Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move booklet and the FMCSA Ready to Move brochure. You should also get a written estimate, an order for service and a bill of lading. Check that the mover’s USDOT and MC numbers match what is listed with FMCSA.

How long does delivery take on a long-distance move from Philadelphia?

Delivery time depends on distance, the size of your move and your schedule. Trips along the East Coast often deliver within a few days of pickup. Cross-country moves take longer. Your estimate will list a delivery window, and we will confirm the timing with you before the truck leaves Philadelphia.

Can LiteMovers store my things if my new home is not ready?

Yes. If your closing or lease start date moves, we can hold your items in our secure warehouse vault storage. Your things are loaded into vaults, stored indoors and delivered when you are ready. Ask about storage when you book so the plan covers both the move and the gap.

Will the same crew load and deliver my long-distance move?

On dedicated long-distance moves, yes. Your belongings ride on a LiteMovers truck, and the crew that loads your home is the crew that delivers it. That means fewer handoffs and less risk of lost or mixed-up items. Ask during your estimate which service option fits your move.
